Geethanjali

Went for Geethanjali with a little bit of hope.. Not too much, knew that they can't ever re-create a manichithrathazhu again. I was expecting a good mix of horror and comedy throught with a thrilling climax. The film didn't actually disappointed me but, with a bit more homework and a half decent script, this could have been much better.

As it is a horror movie, it delivers quite a few scary moments.

The confusion surrounding Geetha and Anjali forms the whole story. Story department delivers absolutely nothing new to the screen. As it is a copy of many movies.
'Haunted banglav', always a good setting for a horror movie.!

Horror scenes invoke some scare among the audience, mainly on the 1st half. The cinematography and editing were very good in those scenes.

But apart from innocent, the comedy department was a complete disappointment. Suresh Gopi had only 1 scene in the movie, to introduce Dr sunny to Nissan. So, not much to comment on that.
The climax is taken in a manner that reminds you of old Fazil movies. The film has an emotional but, complicated ending to it. Many of new generation fans may not like such endings. But I thought it was good.
The film never entered high or low levels. The pattern remained the same for pretty much all the way through.

Performance side, Nishaan was completely disappointing. Climax dialogues were close to laugh riot. Keerthi played the twins perfectly I thought. Looks gorgeous too.

Mohanlal by his standards, delivers an above. Avg performance with good screen presence. His entry should have been a bit earlier.
Innocent made a strong comeback through the movie and remains the most entertaining one in the movie.
Priyan's direction was good, considering the script was a below average one.

Don't ever expect a manichithrathazhu or anywhere close to that. Then the film will surely disappoint you.

An above average-watchable horror-mystery thriller for me.

5.75/10
